Fitzrovia

Bohemia, now with a reception desk and lanyards·Greater London·London

Fitzrovia has never officially existed. Two councils split it, no map agrees on its edges, and the name came from a gossip columnist in the 1930s, so the whole place runs on a pub's reputation and good faith. The bohemians who drank their way into its legend have been replaced by people who make adverts about bohemians, and the Charlotte Street restaurants charge for the nostalgia. Everything is a short walk away, which is lovely until you remember that includes the whole of the West End at closing time.
