Charfield
Charfield is a village that built the cul-de-sacs first and worked out the reasons to stay in them later, so the car does the commuting, the big shop and most of the social life. A good share of the residents now commute only as far as the spare bedroom, which makes the box room the busiest workplace in the parish. The motorway is close enough to be useful and, with the wind in the right direction, close enough to hear over breakfast.
