Thornbury
Thornbury is a town that decided, somewhere along the way, that flowerbeds count as a personality. It has a Tudor castle where Henry VIII spent ten days with Anne Boleyn and a previous owner who got beheaded for treason, which is comfortably the most exciting thing that has ever happened here, and it happened five hundred years ago. Since then the biggest drama in the calendar is settled by the Britain in Bloom judges. It wants to be Tetbury, prices itself like it half believes that, and is really just Yate with older bricks and better manners.
