Binfield

A village with ideas above its station, and no station·Berkshire·South East England

Binfield is where people who work in Bracknell live so they never have to say they live in Bracknell. It still calls itself a village with a straight face, even though its big claim to be the centre of Windsor Forest came down to one elm stump, and somebody dug that up. The pub dines out on Henry VIII, Constable spent his honeymoon sketching the church, and the most dramatic arrival since has been the cul-de-sac. The envelopes still say Bracknell, and nobody here has ever quite forgiven the Post Office.
