Beaminster

A town the railway forgot, gratefully·Dorset·South West England

Beaminster has burned down twice by accident and once on purpose, which for a town of this size counts as a personality. It sits in a bowl of hills that nobody quite got round to putting a railway through, and the result is a place that stopped competing with Bridport somewhere around 1850 and has been quietly relieved about it ever since.
