Yeovil
Yeovil makes helicopters and gloves, which tells you almost everything: two industries built entirely on the assumption that somebody, somewhere, needs their hands protected while doing something expensive. It is a working town in a county that markets itself on thatch and cream teas, and it has never once pretended otherwise. The Romans came through, the Black Death took half of it, and it burned down three separate times, and the response each time appears to have been to rebuild slightly to the left and get back to work.
