Abbey Wood

Where the purple line runs out of ideas·Greater London·London

Abbey Wood spent decades as the stop people slept through on the way to Dartford, until the Elizabeth line made it the end of the line and every estate agent in south-east London learned to say it with a straight face. Now a two-bed here gets sold on its journey time to Bond Street, as if the buyer plans to live on the train. The abbey in the name has been a ruin for centuries, which makes it the only thing in the postcode nobody is trying to flip.
