Wincanton
Wincanton is a Somerset town whose most famous export is a logistics company that took the name and then moved to Wiltshire, which tells you roughly how the place feels about being fussed over. It sits just off the A303 in the stretch where people going somewhere better slow down, glance sideways, and carry on to Devon. There is a castle mound in the woods, a skirmish nobody remembers from a revolution everybody does, and two separate fires that took most of the town in the eighteenth century, so what stands now is what turned up afterwards and stayed. Buyers who want a place that flatters them at dinner parties should keep driving.
