Stanwell

Stanwell is what Surrey looks like when it runs out of Surrey and uses Heathrow's cargo sheds as a garden wall. The manor went to Thomas Knyvet as a reward for catching Guy Fawkes with the gunpowder, and the village has been living with loud things arriving from above ever since. There is a reservoir on one side, a runway on the other, and a High Street bus that turns up about as often as a royal pardon. Buyers who wanted the Surrey address without the Surrey bill have found the place, and they mostly keep it to themselves.
