Feltham

Heathrow's spare room with a London postcode·Greater London·London

Feltham knocked down its medieval manor house to make room for a car dealership, then knocked down the car dealership for a carpet shop and a supermarket, which is about as sentimental as the place gets. Freddie Mercury got a Hollywood-style star in the town centre, and two years later the council took it away because nobody had looked after it. Aston Martin built cars here for nearly forty years and then left, while Heathrow, the biggest employer and the loudest neighbour, has never once thought about leaving. People say they moved here for a London borough they could afford, though the honest ones admit they chose it for the short run to the airport.
