South Croydon

The posh end of Croydon, which is still Croydon·Greater London·London

South Croydon is Croydon for people who would prefer the envelope didn't mention it. Its two best-known landmarks are a pub named after a misread coat of arms, now a Tesco Express, and a pub that shut years ago, and the bus stops still answer to both. Even the River Wandle used to rise here and now runs in a pipe nobody sees, which is roughly how Sanderstead and Selsdon would like to handle the word Croydon on their post.
