Radlett

A Roman road that ended up very expensive·Hertfordshire·East of England

Radlett is a town that insists on being called a village, because the word adds a nought to the asking price. The Green Belt drew a line round it in the fifties, which has suited everyone already inside and nobody trying to get in. Its two big moments of excitement were a murder popular enough that the lane got a nickname out of it, and a stunt rider jumping a row of London buses on the old aerodrome. Since then the most thrilling thing in town has been the fast train out of it.
