Borehamwood

A film set where the extras pay council tax·Hertfordshire·East of England

Borehamwood has spent a century making film and television and letting the village down the road take the credit, because Elstree Studios looked better on a poster. That modesty is the whole town. It was built after the war to rehouse Londoners, and the Londoners never really accepted they had left, which is why the station still carries a Zone 6 badge in Hertfordshire. Somewhere in town right now, a celebrity is being driven to a recording past a Greggs, and only one of them is pretending to be anything else.
