Nazeing

Green belt living, on the river's terms·Essex·East of England

Nazeing is a parish where the bigger village gets called Lower and the smaller one keeps the name, which is the kind of decision a place makes when it has no plans to explain itself to outsiders. The Prime Meridian runs just west of Lower Nazeing, so the place came within a field of being the centre of the world and stayed where it was. Two cars on the drive is the local dress code, and the buses come often enough to remind you why.
