Lower Nazeing
Lower Nazeing is the bit of Essex that wandered down to the River Lea for a better look and found the water had the same idea. It's bungalows, driveways and two cars per house, because the trains run along the valley floor somewhere else and the bus treats its timetable as a rough suggestion. People move here for the space and the towpath, then spend their first wet winter finding out which end of the village the river thinks is its own. The views across the valley are lovely, and the river likes them too.
