Minchinhampton

Mentioned in the Domesday Book and still dining out on it·Gloucestershire·South West England

Minchinhampton is a Cotswold hilltop town where the cattle wander about as if they own the common, and everyone else puts up with it because the view reaches Wales. Several old pubs still carry plaques promising West Country Ales, Best in the West, on buildings that stopped pouring anything years ago. The town has kept the sign and lost the pint, and the people buying here pay for that sort of thing. They get the honey-stone market town off the biscuit tin, cows included, and a drive down the hill for most of what a town is normally for.
