Illogan
Illogan is a village that spent two centuries digging holes under itself and then stopped mentioning it. The old church tower stands there without its church, which locals will explain in a way that makes perfect sense until you get home and think about it. It sits between Redruth and the sea, close enough to both that nobody has ever had to decide what it wants to be, and that indecision has aged rather well. People who wanted Portreath but did the sums are already here, watering their bungalow gardens and telling visitors they prefer being inland.
