Forest Hill, London

Named for a forest, run by the South Circular·Greater London·London

Forest Hill is where people who wanted East Dulwich end up once they've seen East Dulwich's prices, and most of them have stopped mentioning it by the second summer. The canal dug through here had so many locks it went bust and was turned into a railway, which is still the best decision anyone has made in the place. The South Circular crawls along the bottom of the hill at about the pace of the tea merchant's stuffed animals in the Horniman at the top.
