Lewisham
Lewisham is the place the whole borough is named after, and the nicer corners of that borough have spent years making clear they are only distantly related. Brockley, Lee and Forest Hill sell themselves as Lewisham with the edges sanded off; Lewisham is the edges, a big shopping centre, a street market and a station where trains, the Docklands Light Railway and half of south-east London's buses all turn up at once. Its founding legend has a settler burning his boat so he couldn't leave, which nobody has ever managed to source, though anyone who has tried to change trains here will believe it.
