Greenwich

Where time starts and the tourists never stop·Greater London·London

Greenwich gave the whole planet its clock, and it has charged visitors to stand astride a line on the ground ever since. By the river you get Wren colonnades and a tea clipper hoisted up on a glass skirt. Up on the peninsula, people who moved here for the history live in glass towers and spend the evenings looking across at Canary Wharf. Everywhere else in south-east London, Greenwich is the word the traffic report says just before "Blackwall Tunnel".
