Egham
Egham is where Magna Carta was sealed, and it has been dining out on that one afternoon in 1215 ever since. The memorial in the meadow was put up by American lawyers, which tells you who got most excited about it. Today it is a high street pinned between the M25, the Thames and a university, with three level crossings that hold everyone still long enough to get acquainted. Buyers come for the history and the cheaper end of Surrey, and the ones who do well read the flood map before the brochure.
