Burwash

Burwash has been living off one famous resident for more than a century, and in 2019 it put him on the High Street in bronze in case anybody had forgotten. Kipling moved to Bateman's for the privacy, and the National Trust now sells tickets to it. The High Street is listed right down to a garden wall, so the traffic on the A265 is about the only thing allowed to change. The smugglers and highwaymen who once gave the place its edge are buried in the churchyard, and the nightlife seems to have gone with them.
