Ticehurst

Iron country that switched to hanging baskets·East Sussex·South East England

Ticehurst is the village Tunbridge Wells buyers describe to their friends, right up until the first winter teaches them that every errand starts with the car keys. It spent centuries smelting iron for the Weald and now makes nothing louder than a ride-on mower, which is the whole trade people drive out here to make. The railway renamed its Ticehurst station after somewhere else in 1947, the most honest thing anyone has said about getting here without a car.
