Burton End

A country hamlet with a runway for a neighbour·Essex·East of England

Burton End is an Essex hamlet that kept its listed farmhouses and its field lanes, then found Stansted Airport parked at the bottom of the lane. The cottages look exactly like a countryside retreat, provided the photos are taken between departures. People buy for the old timber and the hedgerows, and within a month they can name the airline overhead without looking up.
