Bordon
Bordon spent more than a century as an army camp with some houses attached, then the army left in 2016 without leaving a forwarding address. What stayed behind was the forest and the concrete slabs the Canadians parked their tanks on, and those slabs are still the most durable thing anyone has built here. The town lost its railway station in 1966, and a feasibility study about bringing one back is the closest it has come to a train since. Bordon is still working out what it's for, which puts it ahead of plenty of towns that never thought to ask.
