Whitehill, Hampshire
Whitehill is what fills the gap between two army camps when nobody tells it to stop. Before the soldiers arrived there was a pub on the Farnham road, which is as sound a founding principle as any Hampshire village has managed. In 1991 the parish council renamed itself a town council, a promotion Whitehill awarded itself, and Bordon, half a mile up the same road, is still waiting to be told where one ends and the other begins. The station closed in 1969, the A325 stayed, and so did everyone's car.
