Wheatley, Oxfordshire

Wheatley is where Oxford people move when they want to tell friends they live in a village, without ever being more than a casserole's reheating time from the ring road. The post town still says Oxford, which suits residents who like the countryside as a concept and the city as a backup plan. Shotover Hill supplies the view. The A40 supplies the soundtrack, and the people who bought here for the birdsong never say which of the two they actually hear at night.
