Kennington, Oxfordshire
Kennington is a thin strip of post-war semis and bungalows pinned between the Thames and the A34, so the river gets the weekends and the dual carriageway gets every other hour of the week. It moved from Berkshire to Oxfordshire in 1974 and has given its address as Oxford ever since, which the postman accepts and the dreaming spires have never heard of. People move here because the city is close enough to work in and far enough away that nobody has to pretend they enjoy punting.
