Radley

Abingdon's railway station, plus somebody else's sons·Oxfordshire·South East England

Radley is a village with a famous public school attached, or a famous public school with a village attached, depending on which side of the college wall you live. Every September a fresh intake of boarders turns up with their parents' cars and their parents' expectations, and every summer they leave again, so this is the sort of place where people without children know the term dates. The station mostly does Abingdon's commuting for it, since Abingdon never got a station of its own. Berkshire handed Radley to Oxfordshire in 1974, and nobody has asked for it back.
