The Witterings is what happens when a peninsula runs out of road and the people who got there decided that was the whole point. Two villages, one way out, and a quiet consensus that the M27 is somebody else's problem. Bungalows, beach huts, Range Rovers parked nose-to-tail at a pub that knows everyone's dog by name. Salcombe without the smugness, Bognor without the apology, and a tide that occasionally reminds the surveyors why insurance exists.
