Bosham

Saxons sailed from here; tourists still get their feet wet·West Sussex·South East England

Bosham is where Harold sailed from in 1064 to meet William of Normandy and lose England a year later, and where the tide still floods the only road in twice a day on a schedule the locals time their dinner reservations around. Salcombe with a Saxon church and a thousand years of practice at being expensive. Buy here if a flooded lane reads as part of the appeal; skip it if you wanted Whitstable's energy rather than Holy Trinity's bell at evensong.
