Ramsgate

A royal harbour with nowhere left to sail·Kent·South East England

Ramsgate has the only Royal Harbour in Britain and treats it like a good coat it can't afford to dry-clean. Van Gogh lodged in Spencer Square, wrote home that the sea was beautiful, and left within the year, which is still the most common review. The ferries stopped, the airport shut, and Pugin's churches carried on looking down at the marina as if none of it was their business. What's left is a proper port town with nowhere much to sail to, and the people who stay have decided that is the point.
