Port Isaac

A fishing village that stopped fishing and started charging·Cornwall·South West England

Port Isaac is a village that gets more visitors wanting to photograph a doctor who never existed than it ever got fishermen, and the harbour cottages are priced accordingly. The lanes were built for a cart and a man carrying a pilchard, which is why the car park sits at the top of a hill and the walk back up is the local fitness programme. Everything charming about it is a direct result of nobody in 1750 anticipating the Nissan Qashqai. Buy here and you are buying a postcard other people are standing in.
