Northolt

A Domesday village now best known as a slip road·Greater London·London

Northolt is a town built on both banks of the A40 and run, as far as anyone can tell, for the benefit of the traffic. The inter-war semis got the north side, the sixties estates got the south, and the dual carriageway got the best view of both. Its most famous landmark is an airfield that is actually in South Ruislip, named after a station that has since renamed itself South Ruislip, which tells you how hard Northolt has had to fight for credit.
