Kingsbridge
Kingsbridge is a town built around a bridge that was already old when the Normans turned up, and it has been quietly getting on with things ever since. It sits at the top of a long tidal creek that people call an estuary because it sounds better, and it spends half of every day being mud. The town swallowed its neighbour Dodbrooke centuries ago and still keeps two churches about it, which tells you how long a South Hams grudge can run. If your idea of a good evening involves anything happening after nine, the drive back from Plymouth is going to become a personality trait.
