Indian Queens and Fraddon
Indian Queens is a village named after a pub, and nobody can agree which queen the pub meant, which tells you roughly how much of Cornwall's mythology survives a look at the paperwork. It sits where the A30 stops pretending to be scenic and gets on with the business of moving people somewhere better, and it has spent two hundred years being the place where clay country meets the road out. The houses are practical, the gardens are large, and the view is of other people's holidays going past at seventy. Live here and you get Cornwall without the queue for it, which is either the whole point or the reason you keep driving.
