Polgooth

A mining village that stopped mining and kept going·Cornwall·South West England

Polgooth is a village that dug all its own tin out of the ground, sold it, and then decided the correct next move was to sit very still for two hundred years. It is a mile and a bit from St Austell, which is close enough for the shops and far enough that nobody has to look at them. The old mine workings are still under the fields and under a fair few of the houses, quietly holding their breath. What is above ground is bungalows, hedges, and people who have earned the right to not be impressed by you.
