Henlow

A driveway with a village attached·Bedfordshire·East of England

Henlow takes its name from the Old English for "hill of birds", which is a confident thing to call a village whose drainage is overseen by the Bedfordshire and River Ivel Internal Drainage Board. The nearest station used to be called Arlesey and Henlow, until someone tidied the sign and left Henlow off it, so the village has been edited out of its own commute. What's left is a place built around the car and the driveway, and it doesn't apologise for either. People move here to be left alone, and Henlow is very good at that.
