Gamlingay

The last train left, so everyone bought a second car·Cambridgeshire·East of England

Gamlingay is a Cambridgeshire village with a Bedfordshire postal address, and it has never fully decided which county it belongs to. The Downing family kept a mansion here and put their name on a London street instead, which tells you where they thought the action was. The medieval archery range is now a children's play area, about as much danger as the village tolerates these days. Dick Turpin supposedly rode straight through without stopping, and the people buying here for the quiet are counting on everyone else doing the same.
