Brighton
Brighton is Zone 2 with pebbles, priced accordingly. Prince Regent built a fake Indian palace here in the 1820s and the town has been dressing up as somewhere more interesting than it strictly needs to be ever since. Everyone has an opinion, a bike with panniers, and a two-bed flat that would buy a house in Worthing, and residents will thank you not to bring that last bit up.
