Batheaston
Batheaston is what happens when a village gets close enough to Bath to smell the money but not close enough to be it, and has been quietly relieved about that arrangement since the Georgians started showing up to be mocked at literary parties. A dual carriageway got built to take the traffic away, which worked, and now the loudest thing here is the Bybrook. The suffragettes planted a memorial orchard at Eagle House and somebody later dug the whole lot up for a housing estate, which tells you roughly everything about how this stretch of the valley resolves a disagreement between history and floor space.
