Colerne

A hilltop village that looks down on Bath·Wiltshire·South West England

Colerne is a Cotswold village that climbed out of the valley, parked itself on an exposed ridge, and has been getting rained on sideways ever since. The view down the Box valley is what the listing photos sell; the wind that comes with it is the bit the listing forgets. The RAF left, the Army took over the airfield, and the most famous local most people can name spent his career as straight man to a fox puppet. Bath is close enough to shop in and far enough below that nobody up here pretends to belong to it.
