Rudloe
Rudloe looks like a tidy run of post-war semis on a Wiltshire ridge, and underneath it is mostly hole. The stone that built Bath came out of the ground here. The government then moved into the gap, fitting out the tunnels with rooms where a Prime Minister could sit out the end of the world. Up top, the bats in Box Mine have the better-protected address. It is a village where the best-built property has no windows and was never meant to have visitors.
