Melksham
Melksham once tried to be a spa town, found Bath already doing that down the road, and went back to making tyres. Now the tyre factory has shut as well, which leaves a Waitrose and an Aldi, a station whose trains come about as often as dentist appointments, and the A350 running straight through the middle like it has somewhere better to be. Nobody moves here for the romance. They move here because the sums add up, which in Wiltshire counts as a love story.
