Stockbridge is one wide Georgian high street with a trout stream running under it, and it knows precisely how charming that makes it. The River Test is why everyone's here, or rather why a certain sort of man in a gilet is here, the kind who will spend more on a day's fly fishing than most people spend on a fortnight abroad and call it a modest hobby. It is a place where the antiques are genuine, the Range Rovers are washed, and the nearest thing to civil unrest is a swan with strong opinions about who gets to stand on the bridge.
