Seven Kings
The best guess is that Seven Kings was named after one man called Seofoca and his followers, which is about the size of the gap between the name and the place: you were promised a royal court and got Edwardian terraces off the old Colchester road. For over a century it has been the stop after Ilford or the stop before it, depending on which way the train is going, and the Elizabeth line has finally given it something to be smug about. The houses went up for people catching the train into London, and the people buying them now are doing exactly the same thing, with a much bigger mortgage and a much nicer train.
