Barkingside
Barkingside is named after a town it isn't beside, and its best-known landmark is a roundabout, Fullwell Cross, which got the area name as well. Sixty years after the boundary moved it into London, it still behaves like Essex, with interwar semis, trimmed hedges and a driveway argument on every street. The Central line comes out this far on the loop most Londoners only discover when they fall asleep past Leytonstone. People who move here usually wanted Chigwell, looked at the deposit, and decided within a year that they'd preferred Barkingside all along.
