Meopham

A village that formed an orderly queue·Kent·South East England

Meopham shares the title of longest village in England with somewhere in Wiltshire, and the honest truth is that half the residents have never been to the other end of it. A Georgian historian once called it out of the way, with no thoroughfare worth the name, and the main road has been taking that personally ever since. The station is at the north end and the windmill is on the green, so if you live down the southern stretch you'll know both mainly as reasons to start the car.
