Lytchett Matravers
Lytchett Matravers is a village that looks at Poole, decides against it, and goes back inside. It sits on the hill above Poole Harbour with a view most estate agents would sell their mother for, which the residents mainly enjoy through a windscreen on the way to work in the place they moved here to avoid. The cob and thatch mostly went in the seventies, replaced by estates, and then a later generation bolted thatch back onto new houses to apologise for it. That is the whole personality: a village that keeps deciding what it wants to be, and keeps choosing quiet.
