Lechlade-on-Thames

Where the Thames gives up and the lorries don't·Gloucestershire·South West England

Lechlade-on-Thames is as far up the Thames as a boat can sensibly go, so the boats turn round, and plenty of house-hunters do the same once they've met the crossroads at rush hour. The Cotswold stone, the riverside pubs and the antique shops are all present and correct, with the A417 and the A361 meeting in the middle of the postcard. A town with a Christmas shop knows exactly who its high street is for, and it isn't the people buying houses there.
